Here’s the sequel to United Airlines’ glorious social media nightmare:
This one is good, but the original is way better.
Thank to Adriana Lukas for sharing.

Love it -
Thanks to G4’s Attack of the Show for sharing. It’s a geeky guilty pleasure on an evening when I am really out of it.
Don’t watch this at work…
Thanks to Pete S. for sharing.
I am exhausted, so I am going to leave you with the YouTube classic, “Star Wars according to a 3 year old.”
The last two lines are priceless.
Back again tomorrow with reactions to some of the big news out of San Diego.
Rarely do I post twice in one night, but I couldn’t go to bed without sharing this with the world.
Freaking made my night.
Before reading this, you should watch this video. It explains everything extremely well… and it’s catchy:
Now, don’t get me wrong, I would be mad as hell if some United Airlines employees were throwing one of my guitars around and broke (and none of my guitars are as nice as the beautiful Taylor that they broke).
United is catching a lot of flak for this incident, and I think someone needs to take a stand for the airline!
Sure they are a piss poor airline, with unhelpful employees, bad food, an aging fleet, they broke Canadian folk musician, Dave Carroll’s guitar, refused to pay to fix it, and then completely blew the management of their social media crisis… But, in United’s defense, I’m sure they never would have reacted this way had they realized that Carroll was going to write a catchy four minute song about the incident, and post it on YouTube where it would be viewed by upwards of 3.1 million people.
Yeah, I know you are thinking, “it’s not the crisis, it’s the reaction to it; where is the sincere response on YouTube; why aren’t they embracing the catastrophe to mitigate the damage; et cetera.” Look, if you are thinking any of those thoughts you need to realize that United is a dinosaur of a company, and you are asking it to act all young and spry like those whippersnappers at JetBlue or Virgin Atlantic. It’s just not their style.
You wouldn’t beat up your grandpa? So why are you going to beat up on old United?
I forgot to mention that Adriana Lukas sent this my way. Thanks Adriana!
There is so much truth in this video from the Onion News Network.
It’s late and I’m beat. I’ll be back tomorrow with something thoughtful.
Thanks again boingboing.
I love old technology:
This is just too much:
In case you don’t think it’s real, here was the story that Channel 10 actually aired:
Yeah, that headline is literal.
This is an incredibly sad, but interesting story of a Guatemalan attorney named Rodrigo Rosenberg. Rosenberg suspected he was about to be assassinated by President Alvaro Colom. In preparation he posted two videos to YouTube explaining why he was about to be killed.
He was found dead on May 10th.
boingboing has the full story of and translations of the videos.
This is one of the big reasons why free speech on the Internet is so necessary. Media sources in Guatemala are downplaying or attempting to discredit Rosenberg, but Rosenberg’s side of his own death is out, and it will never die.
There are other examples of crimes (especially from people empowered by governments) that would go ignored if not for the Internet.
Seriously, it does:
If it didn’t rotate, there wouldn’t be a dark side of the moon.

What if Minesweeper was a movie???
I love it when people from high school that I never communicated with in any capacity friend me on Facebook. It’s totally awesome to get a friend request, look at the name and think, “I have no idea who this person is…” but I accept anyway out of some stupid sense of politeness. Plus, my life rocks and my Facebook profile reflects that!
What I love even more than hearing from people who were barely connected to me in the past, is getting messages like this from them:
Hey David! How r u doing? This is a shot in the dark but i was just wondering if u knew anyone who is looking to make some extra money. My business team is aggressively expanding right now despite the economic time and I know a lot of people are in the process of looking for other ways of making money. If u know anyone that would be really helpful.
Hope all is well and thanks a lot!!
She was right about one thing in that message, it was “a shot in the dark.” It was a really poorly written shot in the dark. Seriously, that was the first time that this person has ever communicated with me at all. Ever.
That’s the third message along those lines that I have received from former high school classmates who I didn’t really know. One of them began with the words”
David, you are smart guy with good business sense…
Then he proceeded to ask me if I wanted to “invest” in his real estate scheme.
The other message was an invite to become part of an “exciting business opportunity.” Of course it was a pyramid scheme.
If you were thinking about trying to get me to become part of some get rich quick scheme, please take your business opportunity and shove it.
